Obituary

Eddis Petrola Reinhardt was born to the late James Carsica Reinhardt and Minnie Odessa Bost Reinhardt.  She was the third of six children.  She was educated in Lincoln County in the Georgetown Community of Lincoln County, NC.  She graduated from Winston-Salem Teachers College (now Winston-Salem State University) graduating in the class of 1962.  With pride she would inform you that she had been a member of Dr. Dillard's choir while at WSSU.  Actually, she loved all types of music such as negro spirituals, hymns, anthems, jazz, and pop.

She served as a middle school science teacher and math teacher in Thomasville City Schools.  During her tenure she was awarded "Teacher of The Year" for the district.  She attained a Master's Degree and attained an Educational Specialist (EdS), both from Appalachian State University.  She served as an assistant principal at Thomasville Middle School. Ms. Reinhardt retired from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction with over 32 and a half years of devoted service shaping the lives of many students and preparing them for their futures.  She was a firm believer in going to school to get an education!

She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for many years.  She served in the Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapter as a faithful member and president.  Under her leadership the organization achieved many goals, and she played an integral role in the acquisition of the Winston-Salem Delta Fine Arts Center.

At a young age Eddis was a member in her family's community church, Herndon's Chapel.  As a young woman, Eddis accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Wentz Memorial United Church of Christ of Winston-Salem, for over fifty years, serving as a faithful member of the Chancel choir and Trustee Board. She enjoyed auditioning and being selected for acting parts in the world renowned "Flonnie Anderson Theatrical Association."  She served as stage manager for many productions for decades.  During her "golden years" she worshiped with her son-in-law and daughter, Keith and Kathy, at Dayspring Christian Center of New Bern, NC.

After retiring Eddis set sail to traveling.  Her travels included visiting Africa for three weeks and several cruises to the Caribbean Islands, and bus trips across the U.S.  She enjoyed retelling her exploits of the different cultures.
