Obituary

"A Miracle Born- A Miracle Departed" Mr. Earnest Eugene Hairston, of 4039 Village Park Court, was born February 6, 1939 in Stokes County, NC to Carl and Lenora Gibson Hairston.

He passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

He attended elementary school in Martinsville, VA and was a graduate of London High School in Stokes County, NC. He was an employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 33+ years as a Tandum Truck Driver.

He attended Piney Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday school, the Male Chorus of which he was a part of its beginning; because of his love of music, he sang with different choirs. He was a member of the Senior Usher Board, the Young Adult Missionary group, various committees, and rendered service in the janitorial needs of the church before he resigned.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Hairston; and his grandmother, Jenny Hairston.

Those left to cherish his memories and legacy are his wife of 49 years, Martha Smith Hairston; three sons, Anthony (Maxine), Kenneth (Annette) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Maury (Janice) of Lawrenceville, GA; one daughter, Monica (Sandy) of Dinwiddie, VA; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Brandon, Erica, Jonathan, Brennen, Tasja, and Paiten; his mother, Lenora Hairston of Walnut Cove, NC; two brothers, Albert (Mary) of Walnut Cove, NC and Keith (Brenda) of Kernersville, NC; three sisters-in-law, Rachel and Pearl of Winston-Salem, NC and Ada (Cedell) of Rural Hall, NC; one brother-in-law, Jesse (Kathy) of Winston-Salem, NC; a loving, devoted son who was always supportive of him in any circumstance/situation with care and love, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Reverend James Linville officiating. Interment will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Tuesday at the Church.
