Mr. Earnest Foster Cameron, Sr., affectionately known as "Jimbo", 78, the widow of Mrs. Hazel Mae Cameron, transitioned this life on Tuesday morning, March 31, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on June 6, 1930 in Blackstock, SC to Carrie Morrison and Anderson Cammon.
He was educated in the public schools of Forsyth County. After completing his education, he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged.
Earnest was a retiree of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church until his declining health. Mr. Cameron was also a faithful member of the Montrose Avenue Community Club, Cyclops Social Club, Odyssey Club, Retired Bid Whist Players, Bivouac Lodge #503, and the American Legion Post #220.
Earnest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three siblings, Georgianna Foster, Matthew Jones, and Roberta "Bert" Foy, who raised him.
He is lovingly survived by daughters, Gloria (Mark) Redd, Rita Brown Powell, Rubenia "Beany" Richardson, Loretta Elaine (Joseph) Barnes, and Earnestine Cameron; a devoted son, Earnest Cameron, Jr. all of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Markita Foster of Landham, MD, Cheryl Langley of Boykins, VA, Yolanda (Larry) Proctor of White Plains, MD, Lt. David (Andria) Brown, III of Houston, TX, Cherita (L. Michael) Irving of Kernersville, NC, Jamel Gales, Kristen Cameron-Fuller, LeRon Cameron-Fuller, Alexis Cameron, Kiara Richardson Warren, and Karesha Stoddard, all of Winston-Salem, NC; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Woods of East Orange, NJ; a special niece, Mary Loretta Johnson; a special friend, Mildred Price and family of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 1pm Monday, April 6, 2009 from the Union Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Sir Walter Mack, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12Noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
