Earlene Beatrice Reavies was born February 1, 1934. She was reared and educated in Washington DC. She graduated from Howard University in 1956 with a degree in Sociology and also earned a Master's Degree in Social Work. She retired from Howard University Hospital after 36 years of service as a social worker. While there, she was on the team that started the Kidney Transplant program. Earlene retired to Winston Salem, North Carolina where she gave of her many talents and support. Earlene supported many different organizations including the Winston-Salem Foundation. She loved art, both collecting and attending events. She was a season ticket holder of the Stevens Center for several years.
Earlene was a spiritual person. Discovering the Science of Mind teaching was for her "an answer to a prayer". She asked God to change her life so she could become more than she was, ultimately becoming a certified Religious Science Practitioner (RScP) and teaching "Foundations of Science of Mind" to others. She utilized those skill while volunteering "many hours a month with Hospice, supporting volunteers who work with those who are dying. This work brought her much joy and satisfaction."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicey and Roy Reavies; and brothers, Roy, Jr. and Reginald. She was the goddaughter of Alec and Bettye Revis. Earlene did not marry or have children but is survived by cousins to whom she was devoted. During her later years, she was cared for by a devoted cousin, Thomasene Richárd.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
