Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, mentor, friend, and Master Painter Dwayne Raynard Wilkins, fondly known as "Precious," was born on April 3, 1961, to the late Wilbert Wilkins and the late Naomi McDuffie Wilkins. God saw fit to call him home to reunite with his parents and four older brothers on April 23, 2021.

Dwayne was a 1979 graduate of Parkland Senior High School. After high school, he attended Forsyth Technical Community College. Through the instructions of his father and late Uncle Pastor Melvin "Rip" Wilkins, Dwayne, was shaped and molded into a Master Painter. Dwayne's superb skills were passed on to his sons and others who were eager to learn a trade. Dwayne was currently in the process of retiring from Forsyth Technical Community College.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; and his four older brothers, Ronald, Donald, Wilbert Jr., and Wayne Wilkins.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of twenty-three years Roxie Wilkins; his four sons, Dwayne Jr. (Katina) of the city, Devan (Ra'Eisha) of Kernersville, Marcus (Antoinette) of Norfolk, VA, and Eric Banks of the city will carry on his legacy of hard work and a family-first mindset.

Dwayne also leaves to cherish his memory and to rejoice while remembering the good times, three grandsons, Marcellus, Nehemiah and Maximus; one sister, Delayne Renee Wilkins of the city; one brother, Fredrick (Jasia) Wilkins of Jacksonville, NC; one sister-in-law, Monica K. Gilbert of Lithonia, GA; one brother-in-law, Claude Reaves of Greensboro, NC; two aunts, Elsie M. Coleman of Red Springs, NC and Martha Kaye Gullick of the city; one uncle, Richard (Mary) Wilkins of the city; five nieces, Marian Wilkins of Greenbelt, MD, Shecombe (Andrew) Lemons of San Bernadino CA, Khineishia (Kalis) Armstrong of Jacksonville, NC, Khishaane (Cristopher) Foglers of Charlotte, NC, and Lakieya Reaves of Antioch, TN; three nephews, Marcus Douglas of the city, Khyshawn Wilkins of Jacksonville, NC, and Fredrick (Kaleigh) Wilkins of El Paso, TX;  three great nieces, Aysia Lemons, Sage and Reyna Wilkins; five great nephews, Jaedyn and Jayson Griffin, Noah Lemons, Kayden Johnson, and Caden Douglas; and a host of loving family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2021.
