Winston-Salem- Mr. Dwayne Derrick Eley, 39 departed this life suddenly on February 19, 2009. Dewayne was born on January 29, 1970 in Baltimore, MD to Marie Watkins and Mike Grant McRae, Jr.

He was a graduate of North Forsyth High School and he attended Forsyth Technical Community College. He was recently employed at Wilco Hess of Winston-Salem and he was a member of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Vonice Dickerson.

"Eley" as he was affectionately known to family and friends leaves to cherish his memories his caring mother, Marie Watkins; his loving and devoted wife, Stephanie Eley; two sons, Dwayne Eley, III and De-juan Jones all of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter, Zonya Thomas of Davidson County, NC; one step-daughter, Kiara Woodard of Mecklenburg County; one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony McRae of Baltimore, MD; three aunts, Eleanor Peace of Washington, DC, Dorothy (Glenn) Bullock of Louisburg, NC, and Christine Holden of Castalia, NC; five uncles, Earl (Doretha) Stallings of Rocky Mount, NC, Eugene (Helen) Stallings, Eddie (Carolyn) Stallings, John Stallings, and James (Florine) Strickland all of Baltimore, MD; a host of friends that were helpful in his journey through life, Cedric B., Michael P., Deangelo, Ronald, Dexter, Crystal L., Crystal B., Keller P. and June; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, February 28, 2009 from the Goler Memorial AME Zion Church with Reverend Seth O. Lartey officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 1:30pm on Saturday at the Church.
