Deacon Douglas Wayne Ingram was born on October 16, 1949, to the late Robert L. Richardson and Jessie M. Ingram in Winston-Salem, NC.
Douglas was married to the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Arnita Perkins Ingram, who was the epitome of till death do us part through sickness and health.
Douglas was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie M. Ingram; father, Robert Richardson; daughter, Stacy Ingram Andrews; grandson, Jaquan Ligons; maternal grandmother, Rose Ingram; brothers, Robert Ingram and John Ingram; father-in-law, James M. Perkins; and mother-in-law, Magnolia M. Perkins.
Douglas was a proud graduate of Anderson Senior High School, Class of 1969. Douglas was drafted into the United States Navy in 1969, where he served and retired from the Navy Reserve in 1991. He worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he retired after 30 years. Douglas served as Past Master of Salem Lodge #139 PHA and was past Worthy Patron of Meridian Chapter #308 OES-PHA. He was (GIG) Grand Inspector General 33rd Degree, member of AASR United Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction. He was also a member of King Solomon Consistory #64, Winston-Salem, NC, and King Solomon Commanders of the Rite, Winston-Salem, NC. Douglas was also a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church Sr. Missionary Ministry.
He leaves to cherish dear and precious memories his loving wife, Arnita Perkins Ingram; his daughter, Selena (Gjerria) Ligons of the city; five grandchildren Ala'sha Ingram, Gjerria Ligons, Jr., Gah'ques Ligons, Tasiana Andrews, and Selia Ligons all of the city; sons-in-law, Gjerria Ligons and Terry Andrews; his two brothers, Byron Ingram of the city and Gregory Ingram of Orlando, Florida; his five sisters, Rita (Harold Thompson) Powell, Rubenia Richardson, Elaine (Joseph) Barnes, Gloria (Mark) Redd, and Earnestine Cameron all of the city; sisters-in-law, Julia (James) Chisholm, Linda (late Rickie) Foote, Isolar Perkins, Luzelle Perkins, late Alpholonia (Darrell) Gywn, and Lee Ethel Perkins; brother-in-law, James (Priscilla) Perkins all of the city; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, November 6, 2023 at Union Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church. Interment will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
