Dorothy Mae Young Dixon was born on May 9, 1935 in Columbia, South Carolina to Mary and Nick Young.  She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church for 50 plus years.  Ms. Dixon served as Sunday School Secretary, Class Number 4 until her health failed.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, John Dixon; and four brothers and four sisters.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, loving and devoted children, John (Elaine) Dixon, Jr., Gloria Morgan-Flowers, Billy (Monte) Dixon, B. Jean (Rickey) Scales, Martha (Cynthia) Dixon, and Keith Dixon; her devoted grandson, Carlos Dixon; granddaughters, Nicole Dixon, and Kamirah Dixon; she also leaves three God grandsons, Jabril Scales, Jordan McCray and Nyzier Miller. Dorothy also leaves to mourn several nephews, nieces, and cousins and a host of friends; a special cousin/sister, Ethel Adams; loving niece, Debra Scott; and loyal cousins, Mary Ann Bingham and Bert Hammonds. Dorothy will definitely be missed by her special circle of friends that she spoke with daily.  She loved you all dearly.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, August 20, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
