Dorothy Gretta Linton, 92 passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Born January 7, 1918 in Winston-Salem, NC she was one of two children of the late William and Eunice Brannic. Mrs. Linton spent most of her life as a loving wife to the late Elmo Linton and was a domestic worker. Mrs. Linton was an avid bowler and traveled in several states participating in tournaments. She worked on the usher board at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church before her health failed her and she moved to Salisbury, NC. She enjoyed her work in the church.
Mrs. Linton was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; two daughters, Barbara Jean and Gretta Jowers; and a grandson, John Jowers, Jr.
She is survived by three daughters, Rosetta(Willie) Glover of Hillsborough, NC, Martha (Johnny) Legrand of Salisbury, NC, Maria (George) Perkins of Smithfield, VA; one son, Elmo Reece Linton, Jr. of the home; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, September 13, 2010 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Nathan Scovens officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
