Obituary

Dorothy Tucker Jordan died peacefully at her home on September 3, 2017.

Dorothy was born November 26, 1930 to the union of Clarence and Minerva Tucker.  Dorothy enjoyed a life of travel and entertaining close friends.  One would say she worked as hard as she played.  Dorothy graduated from the historic Lincoln Academy in Asheville, NC and later attended North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC where she received her B.S degree in Nursing Education in 1957.  She also attended George Washington University, Washington, DC where she received her M.BA Education Supervisor in Human Development.  She enjoyed all aspects of Nursing.  Her skills were vast.  She was a teacher at High School Vocational Career School teaching Electrocardiogram.

During her career she spent 24 years teaching Secondary and Adult curriculum written for Practical Nursing and Nursing Aide.  Dorothy served as Health Career Chairperson, counseling students in the Jr Fellowship Summer Aid Program for Walter Reed Army Medical Center located in Washington, DC.

While living in Washington, DC, Dorothy was a Charge Nurse, Emergency RN Staff Nurse, Private Duty Nurse and General Staff Nurse.

Dorothy's last employer was Guilford County Department of Social Service where she retired in 2015.  She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Highland Avenue in Winston-Salem, NC under the leadership of Rev Dr. Darryl Aaron until her health began diminishing.  She really admired and enjoyed her church family and one of her favorite church events was Friends and Family Day.

She is survived by her devoted God daughter and care giver Sharon Tucker Altman (Thomas A.); cousin, Benjamin Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Providence Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC with Rev. Darryl Aaron officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park Greensboro, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Thursday at the Church.
