Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Butler Jones was born on March 19, 1928 to Herbert Charles Butler and Lillian Kelly Butler.
She attended the public schools in Bessemer, AL and graduated from Talladega College in 1950.
She married James Marshall Jones in June 1954 and to this union 3 children were born; Cheryl, Rhonda and Nancy.
She was a member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church where she belonged to several organizations and sang for many years on The Cathedral Choir.
She was an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Alphabettes, The Links, Inc., The Holiday's, and The Couples Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Herbert Butler, Jr. and Atty. Philander Butler.
She leaves to mourn her husband of 60 years, Dr. James M. Jones, Jr.; her daughters, Cheryl (Charles) Jones Byrd, Rhonda Jones Scott, and Nancy Lynne Jones; her grandchildren, Erin Byrd, Micah Byrd, and Andrew Church; sister, Nancy Butler Andrews (William) of Tampa, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1pm Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
