Mrs. Dorothy Latham Garner, 85, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center following a period of illness.

She was born to the late Theodore Latham and Margie Sheff Latham in Winston-Salem, NC on November 24, 1932. She was a graduate of Atkins High School and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. Mrs. Garner was a life-long member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Latham Byrd and Shirley Latham Evans.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, James A. Garner, Sr.; their children, Cynthia Garner (Thomas Shelton), Cheryl Garner, and James A. Garner, Jr.; grandchildren, Naomi (Josh) Willis, Courtney Garner and James A. Garner, III; great-grandchildren, Kainen Favors and Marcellus Willis; sisters, Barbara L. Humphrey and Betty L. Hargrave; two sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Dr. S.T. Churn, Sr. officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:30am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
