On Tuesday, June 5, 2007 the beloved Dorothy (Dot) Yarborough Brandon answered her final call at the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center following a brief illness. Dot one of two children, born to William Yarbrough, Sr. and Elizabeth Yarbrough, was a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She graduated from Atkins High School and furthered her education at Winston-Salem State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Dot pursued her career as and Elementary School Teacher in Detroit, Michigan at Hutchinson Elementary School. Upon her return to Winston-Salem, Dot furthered her teaching career at Elliott-Duncan Elementary School in Madison-Mayodan City School System where she devoted her career to strengthening the lives of her students.
She was preceded in death by a devoted nephew, Vernard Yarbrough. Left to cherish her loving memories is her parents, daughter, Pamela A. Brandon; two granddaughters, Natisha N. Brandon and Rashidah A. Brandon; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh N.C. Wagner; one brother, William Yarbrough (Valerie); devoted cousin, Priscilla Dixon; devoted friends Sandra Wilder and Valerie Puryear; her special friend Nathaniel Williams; daughter's fiancée, Tyrone Morgan; and a host of relatives and loving friends.
Homegoing celebration services will be held at 1 pm at Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 pm at the Chapel.
Family and friends will be welcomed at her daughter's home at 216 Royal Forest Court Winston-Salem, NC.
