Mrs. Dorma Jones Matthews, 73, left us on the morning of June 19, 2009. Dorma Rose as she was affectionately known, was born January 16, 1936 to the late Frank Marvin and Tishie Jones in Forsyth County. She attended Carver High School and completed her high school education at Forsyth Technical College. She retired from Sarah Lee Sock and worked at Kernersville Elementary School until her health declined. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Kernersville. Dorma was preceded in death by her parents and son Charles Edward Matthews. She is survived by a daughter Lavonne Matthews of the home, granddaughters, Ariscia, Charvina and Vanette Matthews, grandson Anthony Brooks, great grandchildren, brother Jim (Jack) Jones of Walnut Cove, niece Deborah Avent (Melvin), nephew Jerry (Thyreshia) Jones of Tallageda, Alabama and many relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Providence Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Derioux Johnson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Garden of Memory.
