Doris Hairston Roebuck
June 22, 1932 – January 7, 2019
Doris Hairston Roebuck entered heaven's gates on January 7, 2019. She was born in Oak Ridge, NC on June 22, 1932 to the late Walter and Alma (Tatum) Hairston.
She was united in marriage to Freeman J. Roebuck on September 5, 1957 in Bartesville, Oklahoma. They are reunited in heaven forever.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, James K. Dobson; and by her brother, Nathaniel Hairston.
Mrs. Roebuck is survived by her adored children, Vincent Roebuck and Christine Davis of W-S, NC, Janice (Robinson) Fulwood of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Gina Lamar of Laurel, MD and Celina (Will) Crawley of W-S, NC; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her brother, Billy Hairston; sisters, Ollie Mays, Doretha Lyons, Anna Horton, Janet (Isaiah)Timberlake, Helen Horton and Clara (Willie) Pinkney of Winston-Salem, NC; and many extended family and friends.
Mrs. Roebuck attended Carver High School. Along with her devotion to family her greatest joy was serving as a deaconess, senior choir member and Sunday school teacher at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of W-S, NC. She had a passion for charitable donations. She enjoyed being a retired private chef and caterer. She also enjoyed preparing delicious recipes and sharing them with family and friends. Most of all she loved the Lord and her favorite scripture verse was 1 Corinthians 13:13.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4129 Northampton, Drive, W-S, NC 27105. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army, Samaritan Ministries, and the Parkinson's Foundation.
