In his infinite wisdom, God saw fit to equip the Matriarch of our family Mrs. Dora Alice Wilborn, 88, with her wings and called her home to be with him on Christmas Eve 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was born April 17, 1927 in Wilkes County, NC to the late Bob Hambric and Grace Hampton. She was a member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church until her health would not allow her to attend. She was a missionary in her own very special way. She saw the need to reach out and feed the hungry, clothe those that needed clothes, provide shelter for the homeless, and encourage the weary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Thomas Wilborn; children, Iris Maxine Wilborn and David Lee Wilborn; grandchildren, Shannon Kenard Wilborn (Shawn), Treina Wilborn; sisters, Maggie March and Gertrude Hampton; brothers, Ralph and Kemp Hampton; and son-in-law, Curtis Knight.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her children Nancy (Curtis) Wilkes, Rebecca and Shelia Wilborn, Gaylynn Earl, and Elder Beverly Knight; sons, Thomas (Sarah), Kenneth of Atlanta, GA, Steve of Richmond, VA, and Kent (Delores) Wilborn of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Clayton, Kevon, and Tashina whom she raised; many other grandchildren, great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; sisters, R. V. Hague and Sadie Tate of Jonesville, NC; sisters-in-law, Kay Middleton of Greensboro, NC and Delores Welborn of Jonesville, NC; brothers-in-law, James (Etta Mae) and Larry; special family friend, Ms. Stella Reynolds; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that she touched.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Prophet Thomas Wilborn officiating and Rev. V. Cedric Crawford eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Chapel.
