On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, our beloved, Donnie Howard Montgomery transitioned his earthly life peacefully after a very courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  Donnie was born September 12, 1960, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Kay France Eaddy-Montgomery and the late Roosevelt Montgomery.

Donnie was raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and attended WSFC Schools. He was a known track athlete at East Forsyth High School, where he graduated in 1978. Upon graduation, Donnie enjoyed a career in manufacturing especially loved working for FedEx.

Donnie was a very caring and compassionate man who always kept a smile or had a joke ready for you. Donnie loved his mother, daughter, and grandchildren immensely and would give his last to see them happy.

He was preceded in his death by his father, Roosevelt Montgomery; his son, Mike L. Cherry; and brothers, Roosevelt Montgomery, Jr., Solomon Montgomery, Anthony Montgomery, and his twin- Ronnie Montgomery.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Padonda (Rick) Webb of Kernersville, NC; mother, Ms. Kay Frances Montgomery; one sister, Frances Montgomery (Johan) of Winston-Salem; a brother, Roger Montgomery (Nora) of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Sy'Raiah Webb, Kamryn Campbell, and Kaiah Webb of Kernersville, NC; three aunts, Rosa Davis of Scranton, SC, Annie Bell Graham and Carrie Bell Broom of Lake City, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:00noon on Monday at the Chapel.
