Donna L. Simpson, 69 years of age, transitioned to her next phase of life on Friday, December 15, 2023 peacefully in her home with loving family by her bedside. She was born at McKeesport Hospital and raised in Chairton, PA by her mother and father, LeAndrew and Charlie-Mae Parks Crutchfield and was one of eight siblings.

In 1969 she met her husband, Leonard Simpson (b. 11/12/53 - d. 11/15/16) when she was 15. They dated for 3 and a half years and got married on December 21, 1973 and raised three children. They later moved to Winston-Salem, NC.

Donna was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and was the sweetest person and a woman of God. She enjoyed the little pleasures of life and didn't take it for granted. She enjoyed family meals and games, spending time with her grandchildren, reading her bible, doing hair, and spending time with friends. She was generous, kind, and had a heart of gold. She will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, LeAndrew and Charlie-Mae Parks Crutchfield; her dear husband, Leonard L. Simpson; her sisters, Paula J. Crutchfield, Terri Crutchfield, and Barbara B. Page; mother and father-in-law, Earl and Rosena Simpson; sisters-in-law, Carrie Allsopp, Mildred Blackwell, and Sandra McCullough; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey, Kenneth, and Donald Simpson and Hiawatha Gist.

Donna is survived by her two sons, Leonard S., Jr. and Anthony L. Simpson; one daughter, Naomi P. Simpson; two granddaughters, Naomi D. Simpson and Saphira M. Outley; her siblings, Cynthia (Willie) Jenkins, Sylvia Crutchfield, Fred Crutchfield, Micheal Crutchfield, and James (Lisa) Crutchfield; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Roosevelt) Brooks and Rose (Hiawatha) Gist; brothers-in-law, Earl Jr., Jesse (Sylvia), Timothy, Norvell, and Harry (Sheila) Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many great friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
