Obituary

Donald Leon Williams passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at the age of 60. He was born on August 1, 1960 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Nathaniel Prophet Judge Williams, Sr. and Dorothy Thompson Williams. Donald attended RJ Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem where he received his High School Diploma. At RJ Reynolds, he was honored as part of "Super 25," an All-Conference selection for his skill as a defensive football player. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology (Electronics) from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T), while also becoming a member of the United States Marine Corps. He then went to work at Volvo Trucks North America starting as a Vendor Parts Recovery Technician. While working at Volvo for 28 years, he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Technology (Manufacturing Concentrations) and was promoted to a Project Leader for the Chassis Productive Management Office.

He found his partner in life's journey in 1981 at NC A&T.  They married in 1984 and had two children Donald Lee Williams and Taylor Aaron Parker Williams.

Donald was an amazing father and loving husband who always put his family before himself. He would often hide any pain he was going through for the comfort of others. He did not want others to worry about him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Prophet Judge Williams, Sr. Donald leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his lovely wife of 37 years, Rinita Williams; two sons, Donald Lee Williams (Delja) and Taylor Williams; his mother, Dorothy Thompson Williams; his twin sister, Donna Williams Bonner (Marvin); his three brothers, Rev. Nathaniel Prophet Judge Williams, Jr. (Rev. Wanda Williams), Dr. Barry Neil Williams (Dr. Halimena Creque), and Herman Williams (Audrey); four nieces, Leah Williams Halstead (Stephen), Elisa Nicole Fulp, Esq. (Joseph), Brittany Williams Moser (Theo), and Janie Greenwood; two nephews, Barry Neil Creque Williams (Channing) and Nathaniel Prophet Judge Williams, III (LaRhonda); close cousins, Lydell Thompson, Tony Thompson (April), Marx Davis (Mia), and Claude Morrison (Vickie); best friends, Preston Stark (Wilma) and Greg Hairston (Beth); and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Friday, May 7, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
