Donald A. Hill, Jr. a native of Winston-Salem, NC was born March 28, 1992. He is the oldest son born to Reverend Donald A. Hill, Sr., B.A and Lisa R. Hill, RN BSN. He unexpectedly and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the young age of 20.
Donald was homeschooled by his mother during his elementary and middle school years. He graduated from Parkland High School. He was an outstanding football player, affectionately known as "Big Greasy." He was a junior at Howard University.
Donald's dream was to attend Howard University and become a lawyer. The dream became a reality in the fall of 2010. In his freshman year he was on the football team but his passion for academics, social justice and ministry led him down a different path where he became involved in ministry at Howard University and became a Chaplin Assistant, supported Christian Brothers United and President of the Navigators Christian Fellowship.
Donald is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Glenda Hill; and paternal grandfather, June Hill.
He is survived by his parents, Rev. Donald and Lisa Hill, Sr.; brother, Joshua L. Hill; grandparents, Zeb G. (Chineta) Sheff, Sr. and Nethelius W. Sheff; great-grandmother, Ernestine Wardlow; uncles, Zeb G. (Julia) Sheff, Jr. and Anthony (Carol) Sheff; aunt, Donna Willis; a special companion, Magdalene McArthur; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, the Freedom Tabernacle Family Worship Center, and Howard University Collegiate family.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, December 28, 2012 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Morgan Glenn presiding and Bishop Todd Fulton eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 6:30pm until 8pm on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Freedom Tabernacle Family Worship Center, 1211 Winston Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
