Donald Ferguson, 73, peacefully and quietly journeyed to be with the Lord on March 25, 2010. He was born June 25, 1936 in Baltimore, MD. Don was a long-time, faithful member of Pilgrims Journey AME Zion Church in Moyock, NC prior to relocating to Winston-Salem, NC where he became a member of Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church where he served on the leadership team as a Deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings; wife, Mabel McPherson Ferguson; son, Archie Rondell Barrow; daughters, Barbara Barrow Brumsey and Mary Saunders Talmadge.
Don is survived by his family whom he loved and adored, two daughters: Dianne Brown and Michelle Ferguson Hollowell (Ellis) of Winston-Salem, NC and one son: Archie Lee Barrow, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.
Homegoing services will be held at 2:30pm Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church, 5095 Lansing Drive Winston-Salem, NC 27105 with Bishop Sheldon M. McCarter officiating. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2:30pm on Wednesday at the Church. Interment and graveside services will be held at 12Noon Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Moyock Community Cemetery with full military honors.
