Mr. Donald Edward Jones, 71, was born October 30, 1947 in Winston-Salem, NC. He transitioned from labor to reward on February 12, 2019 at his home surrounded by loving family.

He was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and was a graduate of Paisley High School.

Donald later joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country and was honorably discharged after serving in the Vietnam War.

Donald loved cooking and served as a chef in the US Army and many restaurants in the Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. He was known for his outstanding dishes and loved being with family at cookouts and other events. Later in life he owned and operated Don's Upholstery in Downtown Winston-Salem and on Waughtown Street. He was also active in his Church, and he and his wife started Earthquake Ministries in 1994 and ministered to the surrounding Winston-Salem community. He was truly a jack of all trades and his infectious spirit will be remembered and missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Wyoning Wright; his brother, James Jones; and his son, Antonio Donte Jones.

Left to cherish precious and fond memories are his loving wife of 53 years, Emma Stephens Jones; six children, Terry Jones, Fennix Jones, Patrina (Mark) Mack, Monte (Racquel) Jones, Deonna Jackson Bailey, and Donnell Flythe; grandchildren, Ame'a Howard, Terry (Jasmine) Jones, Jr., Ashley (Darrell) Foy, Tabias Jones, Fennix Jones, Jr., Janay Jones, Marcus Mosley, Marcaela Mosley, Gwenyth Jones, Alexandria Jones, Tasheka Jones, Kiarra Jones, Donte' Jones, Christian Sykes, and Raeonna Gaffney; a host of great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings, Rhonda Jones, Charlene Jones, Cheryl Gray, Charles Bernard Jones, and Robert Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Thursday at the Chapel.
