Mr. Don Charles Smith, affectionately known as "Smitty" to his family and friends was born December 25, 1951 in Winston-Salem, NC. to Charles S. Smith and Mary Evans Smith. He departed this life Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief period of illness.

Mr. Smith was educated in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School System. He was a retired employee of Sonoco CorrFlex with 40 years of dedicated service.

Smitty had a huge personality. He loved NASCAR and Indy racing, fast cars, fast motorcycles, and his beloved Washington Redskins.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Hawaitha Peoples and sister Brenda Smith Miller.

To cherish his memory he leaves one child, a daughter, Keia Syreta Smith; grandson, Kendall Jaylon Williams; sisters, Doris Hairston, Elizabeth Hamilton (Ron) and Mary Smith; brother, James Peoples, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and a special friend, Ms. Karen Beasley.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Thursday at the Chapel.
