"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
Dolores Bridges Faison was born on the 27 th of August 1930, the second of three daughters of Margaret and Ford Bridges, in Philadelphia, PA. She attended public and private schools there and worked for the Philadelphia School System. She also did college course work there before moving to Winston-Salem, NC in 1979. Dolores loved education and attended a number of colleges while working in the library at the University of NC School of the Arts. In 1994, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University.
After graduation she went to work as an Employment Specialist at Goodwill Industries. Heading a unit called the RITE program (reaching independence through employment), she assisted many of the local citizens. The program was so successful she was sent to the city of Lexington, NC to start the program there. She retired in 2002 to care for her ailing husband.
When she moved about the city, many of her beloved "clients" would approach her to thank her for her work to improve their lives. Dolores was loved and respected by all who knew her. More than anything, Dolores loved her Great God, Jehovah. She studied His word, the Bible, and considered it a blessing that both of her daughters became Witnesses of Jehovah. She was especially fond of a Scripture found at Joshua 1:9 ….. Jehovah, your God, is with you wherever you go.
In April of 1953 she married John William Faison. Their union began another great love, her large and loving family. It produced four children, Valerie F. Bridges, Bryahn D. Faison, who along with her husband, preceded her in death, Teresa F. Lewis (Joe), and John Faison, Jr. There are six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who remember her tender, loving manner and will cherish her memory.
A private memorial service will be held.
