Always on our minds; Forever in our hearts

Dewitt Clinton Gray, aka "ICEMAN", was born on August 17, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC and he departed this life unexpectedly on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

Dewitt Gray graduated from Carver Consolidated School. After graduating from Carver, he served in the United State Navy for three years. He received his CDL license in 1969, and was employed and and retired from Roadway Trucking company. Dewitt was a member of teamster's unit 391 of Winston-Salem, NC and he was a long-time member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Dewitt Gray was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents; his father and mother, John Gray Sr. and Alease M. Gray; one brother, John Gray Jr.; two sisters, Evelyn Gray and Bobbie Jean Jones; and one son, Dewitt Gray Jr.

He is survived by three daughters, Vanetta (Draper) King of Augusta Georgia, Treaver Gray Houenou, and Kristie (Cedell) Lyles III; four sons, David Gray, Clinton (Latoya) Reid, Jeremy (Carol) Reid of Atlanta, Georgia and Michael Miller; five brothers, Eugene Gray, Franklin Gray, Donald Gray, Johnnie Gray, and Clayton Hairston of Hempstead, NY; nine sisters, Darlene Gray, Sandra Gray, Linda Gray, Stephanie Gray, Brenda Gray, Barbara Gray, Cynthia Gray, Phyllis and Olivia Allen; a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; two beloved and devoted friends, Priscilla Reid, Claudette C. Henry-ex wife, Jennifer Johnson and a host of other friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2020. Burial will be held Monday, July 13, 2020 in Salisbury National Cemetery.
