On the morning of March 9, 2024, DeVe' "Ve" Griffin Davis peacefully departed this world at the age of 71, in Miami, Florida, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Forsyth County, NC on August 9, 1952 to William A. Griffin and Jeanette Griffin. She received her undergraduate degree from Winston-Salem State University in Secondary Education with a focus on English literature. A cherished resident of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she dedicated herself to enriching the community through her passion for education, particularly in guiding and nurturing the youth. Ve' had an insatiable curiosity for the arts and delighted in exploring the rich tapestry of cultures worldwide. Her exceptional talent in knitting and crochet was matched only by her grace and skill as a "feature" twirler for WSSU and Anderson High School, as well as her involvement in local theater as a Thespian. She was a retiree of both the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System as well as US Airways.
DeVe' was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jeanette Griffin; and her beloved husband, Charles Davis Sr.
She leaves behind her siblings, William Griffin and Phyllis Walker; her children, Charles Davis (Benita) and Amber Davis Petree (Christopher); 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; cherished friend, Sheressa Stafford; along with a multitude of other friends and family members.

Funeral services honoring the remarkable life of DeVe' will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church- Highland Avenue Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Wednesday at the Church.
A repast service will be held at S & G Event Center, providing an opportunity for loved ones to come together and celebrate DeVe's enduring legacy of love and inspiration.
