Deonarine "Jerry" Roopchan made the transition from this life to life eternal at 6:57 am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He peacefully answered his heavenly father's call with his loving family around him.

Deonarine "Jerry" Roopchan was born to Tillackdarry and Mary Ann Roopchan on June 30, 1965 in Corentyne Berbice, Guyana, South America. Deonarine "Jerry" Roopchan was the third of six sons to Tillackdarry and Mary Ann.

He received his early education in Guyana until he moved to Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from North Forsyth High School and worked for 18 years at Environmental Air Systems.

Deonarine "Jerry" Roopchan is survived by a devoted wife, Penny Roopchan; two loving sons, Jeremy Roopchan and Jeremiah Roopchan; one grandson, Zackeriah Roopchan; parents, Tillackdarry and Mary Ann Roopchan; five brothers, Narain (Nadira) Roopchan, Muniram Roopchan, Rajendra (Phyllis) Roopchan, Henry (Anna) Roopchan, and Charles (Lanesha) Roopchan; two special brothers, Pillai (Rena) Naveedran and Ronnie (Esther) Hauser; four sisters-in-law, Renee Richadson, Mary (Ronnie) Hackett, Tammy (David) Jolly, and Alicia (David) Fallen; one brother-in-law, Bradford (Diane) Long; special friends Roger and Vick; and a host of loving relatives including, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until to 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the Chapel.
