Dennis Lee Petree, Sr., 69, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

He was born on February 10, 1949 in Winston-Salem to Willie Ray and Marie Petree. He attended public schools and was a graduate of Atkins High School Class of 1968. A welder by trade, he retired from John Deere Hitachi in 2016 after 26 years of service. He was also ordained a minister of the Piedmont District Convention of the Disciples of Christ on July 27, 2001.

Dennis was an active member of Middle Fork Christian Church, where he and his wife attended many years. He served the church in numerous capacities: Member of the Usher Board, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, and Associate Minister. He also served as a mentor to many young people in their walk with Christ and to younger ministers. He lived a life of steadfast commitment to his wife, his family, and his Lord as well as a life of tireless service to his community, his church, and his fellow man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lewis and Donald, Sr.; and sisters, Willie Mae, Carolyn and Odessa.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Brendora Malloy Petree of the home; sons, Dennis Petree, Jr. (Kim) of Raleigh, NC and Eric Petree (Marissa) of Clemmons, NC; grandchildren, Johnathon, Kellen, Vanessa, Erika, Elijah, and Ezra; brothers, Ted, Glenn and Julius; sister, Barbara Jean; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Middlefork Christian Church with Reverend Robert L. Coleman officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
