Delta Gent Perdue, 90, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit. Delta was born August 8, 1923 the third of six children born to Glen Hugh and Delta Thomas.
She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University. Delta taught first and second grades in Delaware for over 30 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Teachers Sorority and served as president of the Delaware State Chapter. She loved her family, friends, and animals. Her hobbies were traveling, gardening, and learning.
In addition to her parents, Delta was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh B. Perdue; brother, Glen Hugh "Bud" Thomas; and her sister, Virginia Thomas.
Delta leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Dawn Perdue of 4141 Winchester Rd. W-S, NC; four grandchildren, Alexander (fiancé, Sarah), Christopher, Kenneth, and Courtney Perdue; great-granddaughter, Rosaerio Delta Lopez-Perdue " Rose"; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Delta chose to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dawn Perdue for the education of her great-grandchild, Rose.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Delta's neighbors on Beagle Run Lane, the staff of the Williams Day Center, the Brian Center, and the Palliative Care Unit of Forsyth Medical Center.
