Delphine Elizabeth James was born May 4, 1938 to Robert and Thelma James. She spent her childhood in the company of her sister and brother. After high school, she graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College, majoring in Social Work. Delphine had a long career working for the Forsyth County Department of Social Services.

Delphine was outgoing, always pleasant, and helpful to everyone. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, working crossword puzzles, and watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys on television! Her children and grandchildren were her special joy. She joined Emmanuel Baptist Church on 16th Street and served faithfully singing in the choir until her health failed.

She departed this life on May 22, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Louise James.

She leaves to mourn her homegoing, her sons, Elijah Raynard (Rachel) James and Neverra James; her daughter, L'Tanya Blyther; brother, Robert (Mary) James; five grandchildren six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Wednesday at the Church.
