Obituary

Deloris Louise Hines was born December 08, 1939, in Winston-Salem NC and journey home on September 3, 2025, at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home of Forsyth County.

She attended Atkins High School, graduating class of 1958, participated as a majorette and a lifeguard at 14th St School.  IgHhh

She and her husband, Jesses Hines, were business owners for 20 plus years in Buffalo, NY after relocating from Washington, DC with a portfolio that included rental properties, neighborhood grocery store, daycare, and restaurant. She was a member of the Buffalo Small Business Association from 1989 to 1999. After returning to Winston-Salem, NC in 1999, she opened Hines Daycare and NY Sub Steak House on New Walkertown Rd.    ou\

Deloris was a devoted member of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church where she was a member of the Woman's Home and Overseas Missionary Society, Deaconess Board, and for a short time a member of the Ideal Club.  Sister Hines was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, from 1970 to 2017 until her health declined. She served as a Worthy Matron of Rosebud 508 Buffalo NY, Associated Matron/member of Ruth Chapter 533 of Winston-Salem NC.

Deloris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse J. Hines of 44 years; grandson, Setth Brown; and mother, Martha Penn.

She leaves behind daughters, Vicki Herman and Kisha Dockery; sons, Allenard (Donna) Coplin of Laurel, MD and Anthony (Choi) Herman of GA; grandchildren, Ashley, Rodney, Rashawn, Chisa (Nick), Chantel, Allenard, Jr., Gena, and Nina; 8 great-grandchildren; loving sister, Evelyn Penn; brother, Roland Penn; a very special place in her heart for her niece, Sherri Penn (Curies) Biglow of Greensboro, NC; the matriarch of the family, Aunt Allie Love; and a host of cousins, and extended family of nephews and nieces.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, September 12, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
