Mr. Delmos Norman Cloud, 89, departed this earthly life on Monday, January 8, 2007 at Springwood Care Center of Forsyth. He was born on March 14, 1916 in Chester, South Carolina, the 3rd of 14 children born to Janie and Rosborough Cloud.
He moved to Winston-Salem at an early age and matriculated through Winston-Salem's public school system. He attended Atkins High School and excelled in basketball, baseball, and tennis. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II. Delmos was a member of Hanes Memorial CME Church. He was retired from the U.S. Postal service after working for more than thirty years. He was a trained tailor who altered garments for family and friends during his spare time.
On December 24, 1938, Delmos married his childhood sweetheart, Cora, and to this union three children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Manning, Carl, Sr., Ovelton, Nebraska, Emmitt, Denorris, and Swandell; his sisters, Nevora and Galatia.
Delmos is survived by his wife, Cora Lee of Baltimore, MD; three sons, Ronald of Baltimore, MD, Kenneth (Valerie) of Randallstown, MD, and Vincent of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Shawnel (James) McLendon of Pennsylvania, Paris Gasque of Randallstown, MD, Tier Costley of California, Courtney and Justin Cloud of Baltimore, MD; a God son, Eric "EJ" Brown of Baltimore, MD; great-grandchildren, Sean and Joshua McLendon of Pennsylvania, and Shawn and Brandon Costley of California; two brothers, Aldine and Napoleon (Joan) Cloud of Winston-Salem, NC; his in-laws, Clara Cloud, Pauline Cloud, and Frances Cloud all of Winston-Salem, NC, Louise Greggs of Brooklyn, NY, Stanley Brabham and Alene Brabham of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 1:00 PM from the Hanes Memorial CME Church with Reverend Rayfield Medcalf officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:00 NOON until 1:00 PM on Saturday at the Church
