With the passing of Mrs. Delilah Hash Miller, the world is left to celebrate the life and love of one of its most outstanding towers of strength and leadership. On Tuesday, March 6, 2007, she transitioned this life to receive her eternal reward.
Delilah was born on July 1, 1941 to Mildred Thompson Hash and the late Bishop Reuben K. Hash, Sr. in the beautiful mountains of Jonben, West Virginia. She received her education from Scott Memorial Elementary and High School in Wytheville, VA where she was salutatorian of her graduating class. She furthered her education in Dublin, VA where she received a degree in secretarial science. Delilah also graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma receiving a certificate in biblical studies.
In her early years, Delilah was employed by Jefferson Mills in Pulaski, VA as an administrative assistant and then by Volvo International Truck Company in Dublin, VA where she worked in the personnel office. In the early 1980's, she came to Winston Salem and became the personal secretary to the senior pastor of St. Peter's Church and also held the position as the financial director.
Her love for God was diligently demonstrated by her Christian service at Morning Star Outreach Church in Wytheville, VA where she spearheaded the building fund program, sang in the choir, and served as a youth Sunday school teacher. At St. Peter's, she started the first church bookstore and praise team in Winston Salem, NC. From 1984 until 2001, she was instrumental in assisting the pastor to acquire the land for the St. Peter's World Outreach Center (SPWOC) campus as well as helping to write proposals to raise funds for the capital programs for the building fund. She was also financial director for the Church of God Apostolic Annual General Assembly. Delilah was consumed with helping people who could not help themselves. As the leader of the SPWOC Benevolence Committee, she created love baskets for people in need of food and clothing. She also led the bereavement ministry team.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bishop R. K. Hash, her brother, Joel and her twin sister, Delores.
Delilah leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Deacon Alvin L.
