Deleanor Matthews Hatcher of 2734 Lear Dr. Colorado Springs, CO was born March 9, 1949 to the late Garnell Matthews and Beatrice East Caldwell in W-S, NC.
Deleanor was a graduate of Anderson High School and continued her education with some college. She was employed with the WSFCS as a teacher assistant for many years and later retired. In Colorado Springs, she was on the board of the Urban League. She was also a volunteer for many other organizations.
Mrs. Hatcher passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at Penrose Main Hospital Colorado Springs, CO.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hatcher; and baby sister, Wyenia Matthews.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Melvin (Robin) Matthews of Philadelphia, PA and Charles Matthews of Thomasville, NC; one daughter, Sharon Matthews of W-S, NC; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gaynell (Roderick) Grayson which whom she resided with of Colorado Springs, CO and Brenda (Paul) Fields of McKeesport, PA; two aunts, Betty Wellman and Helen France; an uncle, Russel East; two nieces, Debie Love and Gayle Johnson; two nephews, Roderick Grayson, Jr. and Bobby Matthews; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sarah C. Hauser officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Chapel.
