Deborah McLaurin Tucker, 59, originally from Clinton, NC transitioned from this life, Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her home in Winston-Salem, NC.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Narvie Jones Tucker and is survived by her only son, Narvie Jarrell Tucker, her parents, Clarence Robert McLaurin and Bessie Mae McLaurin, two granddaughters, Alana and Laila, one sister, Brenda McLaurin Taylor (Ron), two brothers, Robert Glenn McLaurin and Derwood McLaurin, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and host of cousins and close friends.
Deborah, better known as "Ms. Tucker", served the community of Winston-Salem by providing childcare to countless families at her childcare facility Tender Love Early Learning Center. She was a devoted Christian and had a never-ending faith in God and commitment to leading her life according to His word. Her life began in Clinton NC, where she grew-up in church at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1976. After high school, Deborah was accepted and attended A&T University in Greensboro, NC in which she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 1980. After graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Narvie Jones Tucker. For a short time, Deborah worked for Head Start of Forsyth County until she decided to become business owner.
Around 1984, Deborah and her husband Narvie Tucker established Tender Love Early Learning Childcare center which would remain in business for more than 25 years. Most recently, she opened another childcare center in Winston-Salem, NC "A Child's Learning Place" in which she began to nurture another generation of children. Deborah loved life, cherished her only son, Jarrell, and celebrated opportunities to spend time with her family. She will be greatly missed by many but her spirit of joy and happiness will forever live in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Clinton, NC with Bishop Varnie Fullwood officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 1:00pm on Wednesday at the Church. Interment will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
