Mr. David Ellis, Taylor, Jr., 45, affectionately known as "Pa Pa" to his grandchildren, was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on November 21, 1967 in Charlotte, NC to David Ellis Taylor, Sr. and the late Mary W. Taylor and died on November 14, 2013 in High Point, NC.
David, Jr. received his formal education in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County School System. At a young age, he became a golf aficionado. Golf became his first love and passion, leading him to Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC where he was awarded a full golf scholarship. Throughout his life, there was never a time that he did not want to play or a golf course that he did not welcome as a challenge.
After attending Livingstone College, David, Jr. settled in Rock Hill, SC where he was employed by YLI Corporation and spent his career as a Shipping Manager. Outside of work, he was a devoted Carolina Tar Heel and Buffalo Bills fan. In June of this year he enjoyed a very special trip with his father. The two of them attended the US Open Golf Tournament in Merion, PA and played golf on the same course where President Barack Obama is a regular.
David, Jr. was preceded in death by his mother, Mary W. Taylor; and grandparents, James Taylor, Sr., Eula Poole Taylor, Lucille Dixon Taylor and Hubert & Imogene Watkins.
He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, David and Melissa Taylor, High Point, NC; his enduring partner, Glenda M. Clark, Charlotte, NC; two daughters, DaSheeka Clark, Rock Hill, SC and LaTia Sewell (Jason) Chester, SC; four sisters, Vanessa Taylor, Charlotte, NC, Angela Taylor, Gambrills, MD, Cédra Russell, High Point, NC and Chloe Russell, Durham, NC; one granddaughter, Ja'Zaria Clark, Chester, SC; one grandson, JaCari Chalk, Rock Hill, SC; and beloved uncles, aunts, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, November 19, 2013 with visitation at 12:00pm at Reeder Memorial Baptist Church, 3725 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC with Dr. C. Don Steger officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC.
