Mr. David Daniel Lowery, Sr., 89, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center in W-S.
He was born in W-S, NC to the late William and Minerva White Lowery.
He matriculated through the W-S/ Forsyth County School System. After completing high school, David earned a BS degree from A&T College (now NC A&T State University). He went on to become an Insurance agent for NC Mutual Insurance Company, retiring from Pilot Life Insurance Company.
David was an Army veteran, attaining the rank of Sergeant and served in World War II.
He was a life member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and was a member of the Layman's League. Mr. Lowery was also a member of Salem Lodge #139, PHA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Fannie L. Wilson, Isaac Lowery, Joseph Lowery, and Handy Lowery; and son-in-law, Rayvon Venable.
David is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Louise R. Lowery; son, David, Jr. (Prenessa); daughter, Marian L. Venable; three grandchildren, David III, Prenessa Danielle Lowery, and Brandon Bullock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, May 14, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church.
