David Meachem, Jr. entered this life on September 3, 1951, and departed peacefully on June 15, 2023, surrounded by his twin brother Donald, sister-in-law Josephine and other family members.
David was one of three children born to David Meachem, Sr., and Ruth Meachem. David was a twin. He and his brother Donald were inseparable, and they loved their little sister Pam who entered their lives four years after their birth. The family moved to Philadelphia when all the children were very young. David attended Bartram High School and upon graduation, he studied Business Administration at Philadelphia Community College. He had one daughter, Christina Stewart who was born in the Fall of 1975. Shortly after finishing college, he married Wanda Whitmore. There were two sons born to their union: David Meachem, III and Adam Meachem. The family relocated to Richmond, Virginia where David entered the insurance industry as an Adjuster. This career path led him to Sacramento, California where he and his family lived for many years.
David was an avid bike rider. He owned touring bikes and often traveled long distances on his bike. He was a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a Casanova for much of his life and he was beloved by many. He enjoyed a good time, fellowshipping with friends and family at various functions. However, God did have a place in his life. He surrendered his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he later became a Deacon at Greatest Faith Baptist Church in California. Because of his faith, David was not afraid to face death and to cross over into Eternity.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Pam. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Donald Meachem (Josephine); sons, David Meachem, III (Jenna) and Adam Meachem; one daughter, Christina Stewart; nieces, Cydnea & Geri; nephews, Sylvester (Annette), Brian (Sharon) and Shonn (Rochelle); two grandsons; and one granddaughter; and a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews, spiritual family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2:00pm on Saturday at the Chapel.
