David W. Anderson Jr., age 84, of Advance, North Carolina, peacefully slipped into eternity in the comfort of his home on January 9, 2023.
David was born August 1, 1938, in the city of Montclair, New Jersey to his late parents David and Anna Anderson. During his formative years he was educated in the Essex County School System which was followed by military service in the Army. He later attended Montclair State College where he took courses for pleasure in English literature and Spanish. He met his wife Charlestine during his pursuit of higher learning. They settled down in East Orange, New Jersey and raised their family. He was a good provider for his family. He was employed by Ford Motor Company, and at his retirement in 1995, he had given 35 years of dedicated service. He retired at 57 years of age, still able to enjoy life and physical strength.
David realized his lifelong desire of living in the country in 1997 when he and wife Charlestine relocated to Advance, North Carolina where he masterminded his dream home and watched it being erected. He enjoyed retirement and working on his land where his greatest pleasure was gardening. He could brilliantly discuss various types of flowers and trees and the care necessary for them to thrive. He also delighted in woodworking projects, astronomy, photography, travel, country music, chess, Scrabble and Supper Club outings with friends from his church home, Metropolitan Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
David was preceded in death by wife, Charlestine Anderson; mother, Anna Ross; and father, David Anderson.
David is survived by daughters, Beverly Jones, Valerie Bryant, Davette (Richard) Ong, and Tracey Anderson of New Jersey; two brothers, James (Linda) Ross of Pickerington, OH and Fred Ross of Pembroke Pines, FL; sister, Clara Nivens of Orlando, FL; and a host of other relatives.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Agape Faith Church, 2101 Lewisville Clemmons Rd, Clemmons, NC 27012.
