Darryl Steven Taylor, Sr. was born April 13, 1961 to Vassie T. Taylor and Sam Speas. He passed away April 10, 2012.

Darryl attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools and graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1979. Darryl followed family tradition and entered the Navy serving honorably for twelve years. He also worked for ADT and most recently was employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad.

Darryl was preceded in death by his mother; father; and brother, Gregory Taylor.

He is survived by his son, Darryl Taylor, Jr.; two brothers, Charles Taylor and Ronald Taylor; two sisters, Deborah Blackmon and Sheila Paris; one sister-in-law, Joyce Taylor; his life companion, Mary Barr; nephews, Jabre Taylor, Kristian Taylor, and Telvin Davis; one great-niece, Deja Taylor; one great-nephew, Joshua Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.
