Darrell E. Coad Sr. was born May 21, 1957 in Winston-Salem NC to Myrtle Banner Coad and Don S. Coad Sr. Darrell was the fifth eldest of nine children. He departed this life June 21, 2020.

Darrell attended Forsyth County School System and graduated for East Forsyth High School.  Upon graduation, he entered the United States Army as an X-ray Specialist and Infantryman. He retired from the United States Army and returned to live in Winston-Salem.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tyeisha Coad Botts; brothers, Rickey T. Coad, Ronald P. Banner and Don S. Coad Jr.

He is survived by his children: Darrell E. Coad, Jr. of Lumberton NC, Daven A. Coad (Shanette) of South Carolina, Dana Coad of Hopewell, VA and Avery Coad of Baltimore, MD. He leaves behind a total of 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild; siblings, Craig Coad, Debra Coad, Chiquita Coad and Sharpe Pitts (Carla); one uncle, Raymond O. Banner, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews and family friends.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be held Monday, July 6, 2020 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
