Mr. Danny Olander Solomon was the 10th child born to the late Lucile and Oliver Solomon in Winston-Salem, NC on June 13, 1943.
He entered eternal rest on Friday, January 3, 2025, after a brief period of illness.

He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and was a graduate of Atkins High School, Class of 1961. He continued his educational pursuits by attending Wake Forest University.

His employment history included Associated Poster, Inc. and retirement from Salem Academy where he received recognition for Employee of the Year in 2015.

Danny was the consummate musician and performed his talents as an organist and trumpet player with Gore and the Upsetters and the Eliminators Rhythm and Blues Bands. He was a veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brothers, John Henry, Robert Oliver, Vardell and William Edward; sisters, Mary S. Roberts, Helen S. Redd, and Delois S. Harris.

Those family members who survive and who will forever cherish fond memories of Danny include three daughters, Cynthia Austin, of Columbus, Ohio, Yvette Jackson, of High Point, NC and Candace Clark, of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Caitlin Austin, Andrew Austin, Jamie Fisher and Derrick (Therea) Washington; three great grandchildren, Haven Fisher, Montelle Edgerson and Enzo Washington; three sisters, Dr. Marie S. Willamson, of Charlotte, NC, Louella Nelson, of Fort Washington, MD and Cleopatra Solomon, of Winston-Salem, NC; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Special acknowledgement is given to Danny's Atkins High School classmates of 1961 and neighbors, Johnny and Sue Wilson.

Danny's gentle spirit and quick-witted personality will forever be loved and remembered.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, January 13, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
