Daniel Winford Moyer Sr., lovingly known as "Papa," passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on March 3, 1941, to the late Frank Moyer Sr. and Dora Hardy Moyer, Daniel was raised in a home filled with love, faith, and strong family values — principles he carried throughout his life and passed on to those he cherished.
Daniel attended George Washington Carver High School. Daniel was a hardworking and dedicated provider. For many years, he balanced two jobs to ensure his family never went without. He devoted over a decade to Budd's Services and dedicated more than 35 years to RJ Reynolds, where he eventually retired after a long and fulfilling career.
Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved children, Antonia Wilson-Cooper and Daniel Moyer Jr.; as well as his brothers, Frank Moyer Jr., Jacob Moyer, Esau Moyer, Scott Moyer, Hillard Moyer, Robert Lee Moyer, Jessie Moyer, Charlie Moyer, Herman Moyer, and Bishop Wheeler Moyer; and his sisters, Rosa Tinsley Moyer, Alice Dillard, Bessie Terry, and Hattie Terry.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and cherished memories with his loving wife, Delores Blackwell-Moyer; his sister, Elizabeth Anne Moyer Norman; and brother, Adolph Moyer. He was a devoted father to Hope Moyer, Veronica Moyer-Gardner (Chris), Trent Moyer Sr. (Tara), and Daniel Juan Moyer (Dapascha). His love extended deeply to his grandchildren, Shawntee Wilson-Harris (Jamal), Latangela Wilson-Gatling (Shannon), Satorious Moyer, Larry Cloud Jr., Sadarious Moyer, Tatyana Corley, Monae Moyer, Jameaka Robinson, Trent Moyer Jr., Jermaine Robinson, Daniel Moyer Jr., Trevin Moyer, Trinity Moyer and Demi Gardner. Daniel was also blessed to witness the joy of his great-grandchildren, Kentrell Wilson, Cam'Ron Russell, Samaryiana Moyer, Jada Allen, Kennedi Moyer, Zion Evans, Malani Hardy, Noah Hardy, and Nova-Rose Lassiter; as well as his great-great-grandchildren, Kentrell Wilson Jr., Chosen Russell and Courage Russell. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Mamie Moyer and Ivadell Moyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who he deeply cherished. Daniel Moyer was a man of integrity, wisdom, and laughter. His unwavering love for his family, his strong work ethic, and his compassionate spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy of love, resilience, and strength will live on for generations to come.
