Daniel C. McGill, Jr. died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Daniel was born to Daniel and Viola Black McGill on February 27, 1952 in Winston-Salem. He served in the United States Navy. An avid bowler and golfer, he was a member of the Winston Lake Senior Golf Association. At the time of his death, he was employed by Winston-Salem State University.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia and Sandra McGill.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Tucker McGill of the home; daughter, Ydena McNair (Dwayne); son, Ricky Hardy (Crystal) and stepson, Alver "Paris" Hughley all of Winston-Salem; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sadie Ervin (KC) of Cleveland, Ohio, Claudette (Joe) Keaton, Brenda (Robert) Marshall, and Domenica McGill all of Winston-Salem; brothers-in-law, William Tucker (Carolyn) of Greensboro, Lennard Tucker (Cecelia), Toney Tucker, and Edward Fulks (Margie) all of Winston-Salem, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Warren Napper officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Chapel.
