Daisy Geraldine Pressley Reaves was born February 17, 1942 to the late Rhodia Green Darby and Willie "Bill" Brown in Lanes, South Carolina.
Daisy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Black River by Marion Baptist Church. Daisy received her formal education in the Williamsburg County Public School system and graduate in 1959 from Tomlinson High School. After graduation, she briefly worked in her adopted parent's business, Pressley's Café in Kingstree, South Carolina until she moved to work in manufacturing. Several years later, she married James Brantley Washington and spent several years in Okinawa, Japan. To this union was born her only child, Nelda. After moving back to South Carolina, she spent several years employed at Baxter Pharmaceutical before moving to Winston Salem, North Carolina. In 1994, Daisy met the love of her life and companion, James.
Daisy departed this life on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rhodia Green Darby and Bill Brown; adoptive parents, Henry and Corine Pressley; brother, Gerald (Patricia) Dozier of Winston Salem, North Carolina; brother, Johnnie (Sellecia) Pressley of Kingstree, South Carolina; and stepson, Scotty (Arlisa) Reaves of High Point, North Carolina.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, James Reaves, Jr. of Winston Salem, North Carolina; daughter, Nelda Washington of Clarksville, Tennessee; one brother, Celest Brown of Kingstree, South Carolina; one sister, Pattie (Bobby) King of Kingstree, South Carolina; one stepdaughter, Jayne (Juan) Brown of Asheboro, North Carolina; and one stepson, Keith (Jennifer) Reaves of Rock Hill, South Carolina; several step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
