Mrs. Daisy Mae Alexander Coleman, 65, departed this life on June 30, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Daisy was born on March 19, 1944, in Washington, DC to the late TR and Amy Worthy Alexander.
Mrs. Coleman was employed as a Certified Medical Transcriptionist until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Coleman; and son Marvin Wayne Coleman.
Surviving to cherish her memories are three sons, Howard Christopher and Maurice Coleman of the home and John Brown of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Marion Brown (Alvin) Johnson of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Minnie Alexander, Mildred (Hessie) Smith, Jr. of Winston-Salem, and Jean Glover of Charlotte, NC; four sisters-in-law, Tina C. (Rev. William) Owens, Edna Ruth Coleman, Bertha Cleola Coleman and Mattie Novella Coleman Wilson, all of Winston-Salem; three brothers-in-law, Arthur Lorrance (Pearlie) Coleman, McConnell (Doretha) Coleman of Winston-Salem and Young N. Olanda (Loretta) Coleman of Chicago, IL; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11am Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Drive , Winston-Salem , NC 27107 with Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Saturday at the Church. The cortege will assemble and leave from the home of Minnie Alexander at 2516 Ocono St. in Winston-Salem.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Capital Campaign Fund in memory of Daisy Coleman.
