Minister Cynthia P. Wooten went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. She was a graduate of Carver High School and attended Winston-Salem State University where she majored in music.
She was well known for her many talents of playing piano and singing at many churches throughout the triad. She started her own business with her husband, Reverend George A. Wooten, "The Hands of Time" making, repairing, and producing special items pertaining to clocks. Minister Wooten joined Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church at a young age in Winston-Salem, NC. She later became a member of Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church as the Minister of Music. In her later years she became a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she was the Minister of Music. When her husband was called into the ministry, she became a member, Minister of Music, and a Minister at Wadswoth Congregational Church.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Donald S. (Karen) Melton, Jennifer P. (Donald) Wardlow, Lori Dillahunt, Tanya W. (Patterson, Jr.) Bryant, and Tabitha W. Johnson; her beloved Goddaughter, Venessa Royster; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Delmonica, Demarcus, Devin, Destiny, Paxton, Chosen, Donald N., Ryan Alvin, Kiarra, Evan, Ryan Isaiah, and Timothy; siblings, Roger W. (Doris) Carruthers, Vontaleria C. Martin, William and Alan J. Carruthers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to everyone who helped in her time of need especially family and friends, Dr. Antonia & Hugo Tettamonti, and the nurses and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Winston-Salem.
