Obituary

Mrs. Cynthia Joan Speas Cloud was called to heaven on June 30, 2018 after serving our Lord for 84 years. Affectionately known as "Joan" or "Joanne," she was born the second of six children on March 25, 1934 to the late Margaret V. Speas and Elmer Speas.

Joan graduated from Carver High School in 1953. She attended Bennett College for Women, Greensboro, NC and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, graduating in 1957. Her professional career as an elementary and middle school educator included High Point City Schools (now a part of Guilford County Schools), Reidsville City Schools, and Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. She culminated 40 years of educational service.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her two sisters, Barbara Speas Peoples and Mamie Speas Johnson; and her only brother, Ernest O. Speas.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Napoleon; her two children Kimberely and Napoleon, II; two grandchildren Napoleon "Tre" Cloud, III and Bryce Curtis Cloud; two sisters, Marjorie Speas Phillips and Deborah Speas; a sister-in-law, Frances Cloud; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Center Grove AME Zion Church, 7001 Zion Church Rd. Tobaccoville, NC 27050 with Bishop Kelvin Shouse officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
