Mr. Curtis Wilkes Hatton, 64, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010.
He was born in Winston-Salem to the late Clifton M. Hatton and Minnie W. Hatton.
Mr. Hatton was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth School System, and graduated from Paisley High School in 1964. Curt attended Winston-Salem State University, NC A&T State University, and received his BA from High Point University.
He retired from Thomasville Furniture in 1997, and worked for Lexington Furniture prior to starting JCARTS Furniture Refinishing and Repair shop in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clifton S. Hatton and Kenneth Cowan.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma W. Hatton; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Hatton (Sonya) of Kernersville; daughter, Angela Hatton of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Jalen and Kayla Hatton of Kernersville; two brothers, Marion Hatton, Sr. (Celestine) of Winston-Salem and Jack Hunter (Alice) of Anderson, SC; four sisters, Carolyn Coleman of Winston-Salem, Helen Williams (Wendell) of Baltimore, MD, Lola Williams of Brooklyn, NY, and Gwendolyn Henderson of Fayetteville; four aunts, Eberlena Taylor, Essie Mae Bryant and Margaret Kirkland of Winston-Salem, and Annie Bush of Columbia, SC; three uncles, James Wilks and Willie Wilks of Winston-Salem, and Alvin Wilks of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony L. Hines officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either the Earnest Morris Junior Golf Academy c/o Winston Lake Golf Course, 3535 Winston Lake Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or the American Heart Association.
