Obituary

Deacon Cornelius Scales, lovingly called "Bo-Peep" by many, was born July 22, 1927 and departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.


Deacon Scales retired from McLean Trucking Company after 42 years of service. He was a graduate of the class of 1944 from Atkins High School. He proudly served his country in the Army and was a WWII Veteran and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Deacon Scales loved the sport of golf. He was a loving and caring person and took pride in his family. Deacon Scales loved to laugh and share friendly jokes.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years and leaves to cherish his life four children, Rudy (Dr. Jacqueline) Hill, Sr., Lady JoAnne (Bishop John) Hopper, Deborah Lindsay, and William (Shelma) Scales, Sr. of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren, Dr. Tiwana (Andre) Hopper-Gould, Yolanda Lindsay, Sokya Lindsay, Renee (Pastor David) Harrison, William (Erica) Scales, Jr., John Hopper, Jr., Jason Scales, and Rudy Hill, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Andre Gould, Ryan Gould, Joshua Gould, Hannah Harrison, JeVaeh Hopper, Jaleel Farrah, and Ashton Harrison; one nephew, George Johnson; one niece, Shirley Johnson; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Friday, February 7, 2020 at Goodwill Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Reginald Coleman officiating and Bishop Stephen L. Williams, Sr. Pastor & Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:30pm on Friday at the Church.
